hello 2008

hello kitty 2008 calendar cover

Jim gave me the Hello Kitty 2008 calendar pictured above, titled, "Hello 2008". So happy. I follow Jerry Seinfeld's advice on writing every day and will continue doing so in 2008, so I'm looking forward to crossing off the days with my neon pink Hello Kitty pen. Silly? Yes. But I do whatever works.

I don't usually make resolutions (though my dog did), and I don't think this year will be any different. However, I might reactivate my gym membership. And eat more fruits and vegetables. But other than that, nothing new because I'm having a hard enough time sticking to my old list of things I'm supposed to be doing (like walking Wonton 2X a day and crossing off the days I write with a big pink X).

In a couple weeks, Jim and I will be celebrating our one-year anniversary. Woo hoo! Take that, all you naysayers who said it wouldn't last! One big year of wedded bliss! A few months ago, our landlord Abe was in the building, checking on the renovations to the floors below. He came up to take in the view from the patio and Jim went out to say hello. Jim said that Abe asked him, "So, how's married life?" Of course, Jim said it's been great. To which Abe replied, "Eh, wait until you've been married twenty."

what's he saying?

Hello Kitty Cupcake Tote

We're in Heidelberg, Germany for Jim's conference. I'm in the hotel room, working on my rewrite (and nursing a hangover) and Jim is at a meeting in a conference room downstairs. I told him I'd stay online so he could ping me and let me know when I have to be ready for dinner and what our plans are. Shortly after lunch, he IMs me:

jim: we take a boat at 6:30 for dinner
me: woo hoo. okay, i'll be ready

Then a few minutes later:

jim: http://www.thisnext.com/item/8E2A11E4/Hello-Kitty-Cupcake-Tote

I click on it and gasp. Is anyone surprised that I want one? But I wondered why Jim sent me the link. You would think that after having to retrieve my Hello Kitty suitcase from the baggage carousel and all my clamoring for a Hello Kitty bicycle, he'd had enough. Was he actually suggesting that I get this tote?

me: you mean you aren't just going to get the bag and surprise me with it?
jim: oops

comes in six different colors

If you are among one of the many readers of this blog who felt a pang of jealousy when you saw my OG Hello Kitty vibrator, then I have great news for you. Sanrio announced the much-anticipated and glorious return of the official Hello Kitty massager in a new form, and in six colors - red, blue, yellow, green, mandarin, green and pink.

Small enough to fit in the palm of your hand, the new Hello Kitty massager comes dressed in a horse "kigurumi" (full head and body costume), with seven (7!) small rounded studs on the bottom, for your pleasure. And if you want to keep it handy, or if you have a problem with leaving behind Hello Kitty items in hotel rooms (or clothing), there's a keychain attachment so you can keep it with your housekeys, hang it from your bag, or attach to handcuffs. The massager is activated by a button on the back of Kitty's head. They just think of everything, don't they?

So if you don't have the original pink Hello Kitty vibrator from 1997-1999 (like mine in the picture below), you can now get the 2007 version from J-List. I want one in every color!

dear blog,

It's me, Celia. I know we just got a Prius, but please oh please, can we get a Hello Kitty bus and everything in it? Except for the humidifier and alarm clock. Those, I already have.

Thanks to Nanette for the HK tip.

hello kitty laptop
It might be hard for people who know me to believe this, but I really do not want this Hello Kitty laptop. I truly do not want it.

This, however, I do want.

left behind

I had a great time in Hawaii, but I am so glad to be back home in Los Angeles. Jim and I arrived yesterday morning and I've already had a conversation with the manager of the resort we stayed at in Poipu, Kauai. First, I identified myself. Then I quickly got to the point of my call.

"...I was a guest last weekend and I inadvertently left some items in our room."

The friendly woman in the other end cheerily replied, "I can check with housekeeping. Which room were you in?"

"Room 2303."

I heard her tapping on a keyboard. "Okay, what did you leave behind?"

"I left a Hawaiian-print dress on top of the hamper in the bedroom facing the ocean."

"What color?"

"It had a black background, with ivory and red hibiscus flowers."

More tapping.

"Okay. What else?"

I hesitated.

"Pink and black Hello Kitty panties. I left both the dress and the panties on top of the hamper in the closet."

She was quiet on the other end, no tapping on the keyboard.

Carefully, she asked, "Hello Kitty panties?"

"Yes," I laughed, "Pink and black, Hello Kitty."

I heard her laugh, then tap something out. "Okay, I'll check with housekeeping and call you right back."

Minutes later, she calls me back.

"I talked to housekeeping. They found the dress and sent it out to be dry-cleaned. I can mail it out to you as soon as it comes back from the cleaners."

"Great!" I exclaimed.

"Unfortunately, they didn't find your Hello Kitty panties."

Hello Kitty

I was thinking that there's enough Hello Kitty stuff in this loft to choke a horse, but I was wrong because GOD DAMMIT THE HORSE WON'T DIE.
